| The concentration of phosphine residue in grain post fumigation (where it is currently being measured) that poses no risk to workers is unknown. The SWA TLV-TWA is soon to be reduced to 0.05 ppm. Continuing current practices could result in the loss of phosphine as a registered stored grain fumigant and there is an urgent need to optimise post-fumigation protocols. This investment will address this by delivering: * Data packages required to update the phosphine label registration with the APVMA, including appropriate ventilation and withholding periods to reduce phosphine residue in grain to thresholds that meet SWA worker exposure limits. * A new or updated Australian standard for phosphine fumigation, including an agreed protocol of how phosphine residue in grain should be measured at receival sites to meet the SWA TLV-TWA, and appropriate clearance thresholds. * An on-farm protocol for growers to measure phosphine residue prior to outturn, to ensure residues are below thresholds set in the above standard. | $2.3M | 19 August 2025 | notice → |
