AusTender is the definitive source for Commonwealth ICT procurement, including open approaches to market and standing offers. The DTA operates BuyICT and a suite of ICT panels (for cloud, digital delivery, hardware and services) that agencies buy from directly. Larger digital and cyber requirements are frequently run as staged approaches within those panel frameworks, so panel membership is the gateway to most work.

Do I need to be on a DTA panel to win federal ICT work?+
For most significant work, yes. The Commonwealth buys the majority of its ICT through DTA/BuyICT panels and standing offers, so panel membership is effectively the entry ticket. Open tenders outside panels exist but are the minority of spend.
What security standards apply to federal ICT tenders?+
Alignment to the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Essential Eight is expected, and many systems require Australian data hosting or certified cloud. Sensitive and classified systems additionally require cleared personnel and stricter controls.
Do I need security clearances for federal technology contracts?+
It depends on the system. General or public-facing work may not, but any engagement touching sensitive or classified data will require staff with appropriate personnel security clearances. Having cleared staff already is a strong differentiator.
