NSW just dropped ~100 new tenders in a week — here's where to look
A wave of new NSW opportunities landed in the past seven days, headlined by long-running prequalification schemes that decide who gets invited to quote for years to come.

New South Wales is the largest procurement market in the country, and this past week it showed. Around 100 new NSW tenders were published in the last seven days alone — a substantial share of the 635 open tenders currently live across Australia in the AskTender dataset. What makes this batch particularly interesting is not just the volume: a large chunk of it is prequalification schemes, the long-running arrangements that decide which suppliers even get asked to quote for the next three to five years.

- General construction works up to $1M — NSW Public Works. Closes 1 January 2029, which means a long application window, but early entrants start receiving work sooner. Relevant to nearly every construction trade.
- Prequalification Scheme: ICT Services — NSW Department of Customer Service. Closes 1 March 2029. The main doorway into NSW government IT and ICT work.
- Government Architect's Strategy and Design Prequalification Scheme — Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. Closes 30 August 2029. Architecture, urban design and strategy consultancies take note.
- Pre-qualification Scheme: Motor Vehicles — NSW Procurement. Closes 1 April 2028.
- Specialist Allied Health and Behaviour Support Provider Scheme — NSW Department of Education. Closes 1 January 2030. A long-running scheme for allied health providers working with schools.
New NSW work with nearer deadlines
Not everything is a multi-year scheme. Several conventional tenders also landed this week with real deadlines attached:
- Supply & Delivery / Installation for damaged Safety Barrier Systems on the Mittagong Road network — Transport Infrastructure Projects. Closes 3 August 2026, so this one moves fast.
- Powerhouse Academy Curriculum Mapping Platform — Powerhouse. A software build for the museum's education arm, closing 6 August 2026.
- Property Acquisition and Advisory Services — Transport for NSW. Closes 21 August 2026.
- Park Furniture & BBQ Cleaning — Camden Council. Closes 26 August 2026. A reminder that local councils publish steady, winnable work for small operators.
- Western Sydney Facilities Maintenance Contract – Reactive Maintenance Suppliers — School Infrastructure. Closes 1 December 2026, feeding the enormous school maintenance programme across Western Sydney.

Closing imminently outside NSW
The rest of the country is not quiet either. A cluster of WA and federal deadlines hit 28 July:

- Construction of New Landfill Facility at Muludja Aboriginal Community — WA Department of Housing and Works.
- Panel Contract for the Provision of Vegetation Control – Mid West-Gascoyne Region — Main Roads Western Australia.
- Vanuatu Infrastructure In-House Adviser — Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Aid Program.
The pattern: NSW is buying capability, not just projects
The striking thing about this week's NSW batch is how much of it is capability procurement — schemes, panels and standing arrangements rather than one-off projects. NSW Public Works, the Department of Customer Service, NSW Procurement and the Department of Education all opened multi-year gates in a single day. That usually signals agencies refreshing their supplier bases ahead of a heavy delivery period.
The practical takeaway: prequal schemes reward early, well-prepared applications.
